About us
Strathcona Studios is a Canadian film studio founded by David Senger and Lori Ann Sanche, based in Ottawa, Ontario.
We create dramatic films inspired by Canadian history—bringing archival research together with modern AI tools to tell stories that are both grounded and cinematic.
Our work is driven by a simple belief: Canada’s past still has something vital to say. Through carefully crafted storytelling, we aim to make these stories engaging, accessible, and meaningful for a contemporary audience.
Diefenbaker: One Canada is our first feature film.
Our background
As partners in life and creative work, David and Lori Ann bring a combination of filmmaking and historical research experience. Together, they spent over 16 years leading large-scale research projects as co-founders of Link ARC, specializing in complex Indigenous land claims. Their work involved managing extensive historical records, multi-year investigations, and diverse stakeholder collaboration.
Their broader creative work includes the ambient nature series Canadian Vistas and web store Heritage Prints of Canada, along with short film and commercial production.
David holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production from the University of British Columbia and a BA in Political Science from the University of Calgary. Lori Ann holds a BA in Spanish and French and brings extensive experience in business leadership, production coordination, and story development.
They are focused on building a new model for Canadian filmmaking—one that is independent, historically grounded, and creatively ambitious.
